Biography
Kristie Keenon's artistic endeavor began at a very young age.  From a small town in Michigan, she would freelance greeting cards and portraits for friends and neighbors.  She went on to study at Lansing Community College where she received her Associate of Applied Arts degree in Painting.  Her education continued at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she was awarded her Bachelor of Fine Arts (May 2005).
It is at The Art Institute where she developed a love of photography which she often incorporates into her paintings.  Keenon's work is about constant self-discovery that is brought about by the people around her.  Her work is a process of observing and recording human expression and identity in today's fast-paced, instantly gratifying society.  Race, gender, and class are most reflected in her paintings.
Keenon's work is completely autobiographical in that it is a reflection of her vision of the world around her.  Her paintings are records of self-discovery, an expression of herself through paint and representation of the subject.  She paints what interests her and what she finds significant within her generation and society.
"My works are images of truth, not fact."  The subjects exist in reality, but as they come to exist on canvas, they transform from a factual entity to a truthful manifestation.
